Resources for Local Educators
A Park Ranger will visit your class (Pre-K to 8) to talk with students on a variety of subjects related to Jimmy Carter. Our rangers read to the younger students while teaching the older students about Jimmy Carter from his childhood, to his political life and his return to his hometown. These programs are offered year round to schools within a two hour drive of the park. Please contact our Education Specialist at www.jimmycarter.info for more information.

Jimmy Carter returned to Plains, Georgia, in 1953 following his father's death to manage the family's agribusiness. That year he earned less than $200. His limited income qualified him to move into an apartment in the town's housing project for low income families.
