Lantern Tour - Battle of New Orleans Anniversary
British officers in 1815 uniforms plot strategy around a table

British officers plot strategy during the Battle of New Orleans Lantern Tour.

Walk through British, American, and civilian camps on "the night before the Battle of New Orleans." A guided tour by lantern light will introduce you to generals planning strategy, soldiers swapping stories around their campfires, and women wondering what fate has in store for the city of New Orleans.

The Lantern Tour is set for Saturday, January 9. The first tour begins at 5:45 p.m. Tours begin every ten minutes (5:55, 6:10, etc.). The last tour begins at 7:15 p.m. Tours take about 90 minutes, including travel time to and from battlefield.

Lantern Tour tickets are available ONLY by advance purchase. Tickets numbers are limited; early purchase is encouraged. No tickets will be sold after January 5 or at the door. Tickets are $5 each; children under 5 are free and do not need a ticket.

Ticket sales start Tuesday, December 1, and will be sold through Tuesday, January 5.

Did You Know?
Tourism has been big business in New Orleans for decades. Before the Civil War, the top must-see site on everyone's New Orleans list was its port, one of the world's busiest at the time. (Early 1800s guides for travelers actually used the term "must-see!")
