Cruise into the past and join National Park Service rangers for a special voyage on Bayou Lafourche, the waterway nicknamed "the longest street in the world."
All tours cast off from the dock behind the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center at 314 St. Mary Street in Thibodaux. Two boat tours are available:
- On Mondays and Fridays, tours cruise to Madewood Plantation and include lunch in the formal dining room and a guided tour of the house and grounds. Tickets cost $29.51 plus tax (cash or checks only). Tours leave the center at 10:00 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m. No tour Monday, October 13; center closed for Columbus Day.
- On Wednesdays, tours delve into Thibodaux's role in history with a cruise to the E.D. White Plantation Home, birthplace of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Edward Douglas White. Tickets $5 (cash or check only). Tours leave the center at 10:00 a.m. and return at noon.
Reservations are required; call 985-448-1375. Tours are limited to 20 people (minimum of eight). Tour participants should dress for a day in the sun and arrive by 9:30 a.m. Group boat tours are available by reservation; call the center for more information. No tours on federal holidays when Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center is closed.
