  • Pedestrian Access to the Gateway Arch From Downtown

    Pedestrian traffic on the Chestnut bridge will be closed as of today Monday, March 31, 2014. This will leave the Pine St. bridge as the Arch grounds point of entry to and from the city. The new Walnut St. bridge will open next Friday to foot traffic.

Meet at the north leg of the Arch at 7 PM (6:30 PM on October 11) to learn about the various "apparitions" of buildings, people, and even boats that once occupied the area where the Arch would be today during various eras in St. Louis history. This 40 minute ranger program will be followed by free telescope viewing underneath the Arch, led by volunteers from the St. Louis Astronomical Society, weather permitting. The crescent moon and ringed planet Saturn might be seen. Call 314-655-1750 ext. 472 for a weather update the date of the event.
