Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Winter Hours

Where: Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, Gateway Arch, downtown St. Louis

When:   September 2, 2008

What:   The day after Labor Day, Tuesday September 2, 2008, the Gateway Arch returns to winter hours of operation, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00p.m. daily. Winter hours continue until Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, May 23, 2009.

The hours for the Historic Old Courthouse are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. year round. Jefferson National Expansion Memorial is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

 

All ranger-led special museum programs are FREE of charge. Fees are charged for the tram ride to the top of the Gateway Arch and for films shown in the Gateway Arch visitor center. On September 10, 1804 on Cedar Island, in South Dakota, William Clark discovered the fossilized remains of the ribs, backbone and teeth of a plesiosaur. Plesiosaurs were animals who lived at the same time as the dinosaurs, but swam rather than walking on land. Clark thought it was a giant fish bone!
