National Environmental Policy Act

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires federal agencies to integrate environmental values into their decision making processes by considering the environmental impacts of their proposed actions and reasonable alternatives to those actions. The public has an important role in the NEPA process in providing input on what issues should be addressed and in commenting on the findings in NEPA documents.
