Vintage Baseball Games and Activities at the Gateway Arch 2012

Saturday, April 28 -12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

 

In conjunction with National Park Week, local teams will play baseball games under the Gateway Arch as they were played during the game's formative years in the 19th century. Players and park rangers will help visitors learn about this game through informal discussions during the games, as well as with a variety of interactive activities such as:

-Hands-on displays of vintage uniforms and equipment

-Learning the vocabulary of 19th century baseball, compared to today's terms 

-Logo tracing/coloring plates of past and present St. Louis Cardinals team logos 

-Historic narrative film of Negro League Baseball, They Were All Stars (16 minute film will be shown throughout the day from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Gateway Arch lobby.)

 
In addition, to commemorate National Park Week, the National Park Service will waive the $3.00 entrance fee to the Gateway Arch on Saturday, April 28, 2012. Please note: The fees to ride the tram to the top of the Gateway Arch and for viewing the films at the park will remain in effect for this day.


The Gateway Arch is open daily 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Summer Hours: Memorial Day - Labor Day 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The Old Courthouse is open daily year round 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Gateway Arch and Old Courthouse are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
