Vertical File Collection

The Vertical File Collection contains approximately 1,500 items, including booklets, pamphlets, brochures, newspaper and magazine clippings, and other materials. These files reflect the major subjects of the library's book collection: U.S. westward expansion history, St. Louis history, and related themes. This collection also contains several files pertaining to the history and building of the Gateway Arch. The files do not circulate, but may be photocopied, (subject to copyright regulations) on the premises.

Did You Know?
During the 19th Century St. Louis was the premier ironwork city. After the great fire, many of its buildings were made using iron framework topped off by beautiful iron ornamentation. Jefferson National Expansion Memorial showcases St. Louis architecture in the Old Courthouse.
