The Scout Ranger Program at Jewel Cave. Engage your Boy Scouts with a summer experience that focuses on Stewardship, Exploration, and Discovery. Immerse your scouts within the beauty of the third longest cave in the world. Work side by side with park rangers and learn how the Monument preserves and protects its resources. The Monument offers this unique opportunity in connection with the national Scout Ranger Program. The program consists of three areas: activity booklet, service project, and educational cave tour. By successfully completing all three requirements, participants earn a special embroidered Scout Ranger patch. They also earn three hours toward the required ten hours of service for the NPS Scout Ranger patch. Most important, Boy Scouts learn the stories behind the scenery and develop a sense of awareness for cave resources. Program dates are limited to Wednesdays and Thursdays, and are available on a first come first serve basis during the summer season.
