Veteran's Day Weekend 2011

Historic Jamestowne will offer free admission for all visitors November 11-13 over the Veterans Day Weekend.

A number of special programs will take place during this fee-free period. On Saturday, November 12, Daniel Abbott, a Nanticoke descendant form Virginia's Eastern Shore will provide demonstrations and discussions of toolmaking, domestic skills, and native flora and fauna as part of the observance of American Indian Heritage Month. The program will be held at the Historic Jamestowne Visitor Center, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In addition, special tours on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. will present a short history of the Powhatan Indians, from just before the arrival of the English in 1607 to the present day.

These programs presented at Historic Jamestowne are jointly administered by the National Park Service and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (on behalf of Preservation Virginia) and preserves the original site of the first permanent English settlement in the New World.

The Historic Jamestowne Visitor Center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day when the park is closed.
