  • Garfield Home to Close in September; Visitor Center and Grounds Remain Open

    The Garfield Home will close September 2 through April, 2015 for the installation of a new geothermal heating and air conditioning system. The Visitor Center and Grounds will remain open during this time; Friday-Saturday 10am-5pm. More »

Kids ages 4-12 are invited to become Junior Rangers! Just ask the ranger or volunteer at the Front Desk for a book when you arrive, and start your quest to earn a Junior Ranger badge and pencil! Check back here soon for a PDF of the book, so you can print it out before your visit!

The James A. Garfield National Historic Site was given the name Lawnfield by reporters in 1880. Up until then, the Garfield family called it "The Mentor Farm".
