November 1 through April 30, the site is open 10-5 Fridays and Saturdays. We accept reservations for schools and other organized groups for tours during the week.
An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe was America's most famous writer of the macabre, and several of his works were among the personal collection of James A. Garfield. Visit for special performances of several Poe stories and poems by David Keltz, America's foremost Poe living historian! Performances are Wednesday, October 23 and Thursday, October 24 with two performances each night : 6:00p.m. and 8:00p.m. The evening includes open house tours of the Garfield home and light refreshments. Tickets are $15 per person, per performance. Must be 16 years or older to attend. Space is limited and reservations are required. Tickets must be purchased in person - we are unable to take payment over the phone. Please call 440-255-8722 to reserve your spot!
Did You Know?
Garfield's Memorial Library hosted a double wedding in 1888. Harry, Garfield's oldest son, married his second cousin Belle Mason and Molly, the Garfield's only daughter, married Joseph Stanley Brown who was Garfield's private secretary. Many guests were transported on a special train from Cleveland.
