  • Garfield Home to Close in September; Visitor Center and Grounds Remain Open

    The Garfield Home will close September 2 through April, 2015 for the installation of a new geothermal heating and air conditioning system. The Visitor Center and Grounds will remain open during this time; Friday-Saturday 10am-5pm. More »

An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe was America's most famous writer of the macabre, and several of his works were among the personal collection of James A. Garfield. Visit for special performances of several Poe stories and poems by David Keltz, America's foremost Poe living historian! Performances are Wednesday, October 23 and Thursday, October 24 with two performances each night : 6:00p.m. and 8:00p.m. The evening includes open house tours of the Garfield home and light refreshments. Tickets are $15 per person, per performance. Must be 16 years or older to attend. Space is limited and reservations are required. Tickets must be purchased in person - we are unable to take payment over the phone. Please call 440-255-8722 to reserve your spot!

Queen Victoria of England sent a wreath for the state funeral of Garfield. Afterwards, Mrs. James A. Garfield had the white rose wreath dipped in wax and framed. It is over 130 years old and can be viewed in the Memorial Vault.
