National Park Service
 Creating a culture of Evaluation

The NPS has very little scientifically valid data about
the direct outcomes and impact of interpretation and education
programs for National Park Service audiences. Evaluation
methodologies should become an integral part of interpretive
program design and delivery to ensure ongoing program
improvement, effectiveness, and efficiency. Accomplishing the
following tasks will ensure national park visitors are provided the
most relevant and accessible interpretation and education services possible.

The National Education Council's Education Evaluation Coordination team, in consultation with experts inside and outside the NPS developed an Evaluation Strategy for Interpretation and Education. You can read the strategy by following the links (in the menu at right).

As part of the development process, an Evaluation Summit was held in Denver. A description of the summit can also be found on the menu (at right).
