Please join a ranger to help restore some of the landscape around the historic Good Fellow Club Youth Campat Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Volunteers are needed onNovember 16, from9:00 a.m. to noon, to help remove vines, shrubs and small trees that are growing up around the camp's fruit trees. Some of the fruit trees date back to when the camp operated more than 40 years ago.Please note the stewardship program for November was originally scheduled for Mt. Baldy, but had to be moved since Mt. Baldy remains closed while an accident that occurred there is being investigated.
Hand tools and work gloves will be provided for this outdoor project. Wear comfortable work clothes. Future stewardship days will be announced for winter pruning, site mapping and documenting the type and condition of the fruit trees.
Meet at the Good Fellow Camp, home of the Dunes Learning Center, located at 700 Howe Road, in Porter, Indiana. Follow the camp road until you pass the lodge (big red building on left), turn right and park in the gravel lot. The ranger will meet you in the lot.
