On Sunday, August 31, at 1:30 p.m. get a preview of the upcoming documentary film, “Shifting Sands” at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Paul H. Douglas Center. A 10-minute trailer for the film will be shown. Then, join the film’s executive producer Lee Botts, producers Pat Wisniewski, Rana Segal, and Paul Nelson, along with production assistant Matthew Keene, to learn more about this film project that will explore the history and sustainability efforts along Lake Michigan's southern shore.
The Douglas Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Stop by anytime during this open house to enjoy the hands-on exhibits. You can also let the kids make a free craft, help feed the Douglas Center’s resident amphibians, reptiles and fish or enjoy a short ½-mile – 4-mile hike through the rare oak savanna forest outside the center.
The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12.
