Jr Wildland Firefighter

What
During the summer months kids can participate in the Jr. Wildland Firefighter program at the park. Kids learn about prescribed fire, fire ecology, and have a hands on experience with equipment used in wildland fire management. Kids can also download the Jr. Wildland Firefighter program activity booklet below. Once the booklet is completed it can be mailed to the park. If the booklet is complete the fire management staff will send back an official Jr. Wildland Firefighter Patch.

Who
Kids Ages 7 to 12 only.

Where
The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Campground on US 12 in the town of Beverly Shores. Enter the Campground and follow the signs to the amphitheater.

When
Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in. Watch for dates in the summer of 2010.

Wear
Activities are outside, so dress comfortably for outdoor activities. Please bring water. Hats and sunscreen are recommended on sunny days and rain gear if the weather looks stormy. Close-toed shoes preferred. No flip flops.
