Enjoy a fall hike at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Pinhook Bog and then explore the nearby Pinhook Upland Trail. While many people are familiar with the bog itself, very few have hiked its upland trail that features the massive trees of a mature Beech-Maple forest. Stop by the bog on Saturday,

October 3, anytime between 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Rangers and volunteers stationed along the trail will help you understand this unique place filled with carnivorous plants. Allow about an hour to walk the bog trail and an additional hour and a half to hike the nearby upland trail.

The Pinhook Bog parking lot is located at 700 North Wozniak Road in Michigan City, Indiana. For more information about this program or other activities at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, contact the information desk at 219-395-1882 or check the park’s website at www.nps.gov/indu.
