Take a Kid Fishing Day on Saturday, June 12 at the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk site of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore located at the north end of Indiana Highway 249. Enjoy a family-friendly day of fishing activities from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All activities are free. Parking could be limited, so a free shuttle will run from the Bass Pro Shop parking lot to the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk throughout the duration of the program. All State of Indiana Department of Natural Resources fishing rules and regulations apply.

National Park Service rangers, members of the Northwest Indiana Steelheaders Association and employees of the City of Portage Parks and Recreation, the Bass Pro Shop and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources will be on hand to assist with fishing techniques, demonstrate casting, identify fish, and answer questions. Activities include: creating fish art, Great Lakes fish identification, or trying your hand at different casting techniques. Kids must be accompanied by an adult and must bring their own fishing supplies. Food concessions will be available.

This event is co-presented through a partnership between the National Park Service, City of Portage Parks and Recreation, Bass Pro Shops, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Northwest Indiana Steelheaders Association.
