White Sands Pupfish (Cyprinodon tularosa).
This species of fish is endemic (native) to New Mexico's Tularosa Basin. They are so rare that they are only found in two springs and two streams here in the Basin and they do not exist anywhere else in the world!
They average about 1 3/4 inches to 2 1/2 inches in length and have dark eyes and silvery scales. Adult males have a blue tint to their scales.
