High school students will have a historic opportunity to learn about President Johnson on the forty-third anniversary of the signing of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. While at the LBJ Ranch on April 11, 1965, Johnson signed this landmark bill at the one-room school where he first attended class in 1912 at the age of four. On April 11, 2008, students will hear a variety of speakers that include historians Nick Kotz and Douglas Brinkley discuss LBJ and the 1960s, participate in a `60s fashion contest, and experience for themselves the physical setting along the Pedernales River in front of the Texas White House that President and Mrs. Johnson called "Our Hearts` Home."
