Some of the trail segments are more accessible than others. Some parts of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail (NST) overlay exisitng rail-trails such as the Ahnapee, Sugar River, Kewaunee River, the Badger State and Mountain-Bay Trails. These rail-to-trail conversions tend to have relatively hard surfaces and few elevation changes. Other portions of the Ice Age NST follow existing multi-use, hard surface, trails such as the Mariner's Trail along Lake Michigan, or sidewalks through historic trail communities. |
