Ceiling Plaster Stabilization

Original Truman Home building components are artifacts. Materials such as plaster, wallpaper, wood trim and floorboards are important to understanding the history of the home. When it becomes necessary to remove and replace these items, representative samples are kept in the museum collection. Repairs are carefully considered and techniques developed to preserve as much original material as possible. Cracked and detached plaster is preserved by using an adhesive injection process to stabilize the ceilings. This method requires injecting the adhesive behind the plaster while supporting it from below.
