Seven artists from across the United States have been selected to participate in Hot Springs National Park’s 2006 Artist-In-Residence program.

In April Char Marie Flood from Chicago, Illinois, will start her residency, followed in May by Deborah Warren of Hot Springs, Arkansas; in June by Rick Chandler of Lancaster, Texas; in July by Robyn Moore of Cleveland, Mississippi; in August by Alice Broughton of Bonner Springs, Kansas; in September by Michael Mergen of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and in October by Patricia Cummins of Miami, Florida. Each artist will complete a 2-4 week residency at the Gulpha Gorge Campground, in Hot Springs National Park. Upon completion of the program the artist will donate one original work of art to the national park.

This program began in the summer of 2004 at Hot Springs National Park and continues to grow in popularity with over 150 artists contacting the national park for information. All artists selected become park volunteers and are not financially compensated for their residency.

Information/application packets for 2007 should be available in December 2006. At that time artists may request a packet by contacting 501-624-3383, ext 652 or HOSP_Interpretation@nps.gov.
