Short Cut Trail

As the name implies, this path is a short cut between Dead Chief Trail and the Hot Springs Mountain picnic area. Climbing steeply from Dead Chief Trail, this trail completed the Oertel Red Trail and was once a popular trail for horseback riders.

Did You Know?
The hot spring water at Hot Springs National Park becomes heated at a depth of approximately one mile before beginning the journey back to the surface through a fault.
