On Saturday, November 7 at 10:00 a.m., join park ranger Mark Blaeuer for a hike from Gulpha Gorge Campground to Goat Rock. The hike is expected to last less than two hours, and the distance covered will be less than three miles. The elevation gain between the campground and Goat Rock is an estimated 350 to 400 feet. Participants should park at the north end of the campground and meet at the amphitheater, on Route 7S. The campground and Goat Rock are shown on the map in the park folder. To consult an online version, click on "view map" at the top of the page. It is recommended that participants wear sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots, and carry water.

This nature hike will highlight the arrival of autumn foliage in Hot Springs National Park, and celebrate the availability of a recently released and colorful booklet, Trails of Hot Springs National Park. The book retails for $6.95 and is sold at the Eastern National bookstore in the Fordyce Bathhouse, the Hot Springs National Park Visitor Center. The visitor center is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Did You Know?
In 1892 U.S. Army Engineer Lt. Robert R. Stevens hired the noted Boston firm of Frederick Law Olmsted to create landscaping plans for Hot Springs Reservation, now Hot Springs National Park. Stevens rejected the firm’s plans in 1893, but some features were adopted and still survive today.
