Volunteers Needed to Carry Homesteading State Flags

Are you interested in representing a homestead state by carrying its state flag in this year's Homestead Days Parade on Saturday June 16th, 2012? Homestead National Monument is seeking people who participated in the Homestead Act of 1862 or are descendents of people who received land through the Homestead Law that have a strong connection to one of the 30 Homestead States.
The Thirty Homesteading States, "x" indicates that the monument has received a sufficient number of applicants to select from as representatives for June 16th.
The 30 Homestead States include: Alabama____ Alaska_x_ Arizona_x_ Arkansas____ California____ Colorado_x_ Florida____ Idaho_x_ Illinois____ Indiana____ Iowa_x_ Kansas_x_ Louisiana____ Michigan____ Minnesota_x_ Mississippi____ Missouri_x_ Montana_x_ Nebraska_x_ Nevada____ New Mexico_x_ North Dakota_x_ Ohio_x_ Oklahoma_x_ Oregon_x_ South Dakota_x_ Utah____ Washington_x_ Wisconsin_x_ Wyoming_x_
