Kids in Nature

Saturdays are a great opportunity for kids of all ages (young and adult) to get outside and use science to learn about nature at Homestead National Monument of America. Helping children and their families experience nature is the focus of the Kids in Parks Program at Homestead National Monument of America. Programs are held each Saturday at 10 a.m. through Aug. 2. Each two hour program includes learning about the topic and then going on the prairie to experience what was learned. More

Barbed Wire Exhibit

"Cheaper than dirt and stronger than steel," was the slogan shouted in 1874 by promoters of a new style of fencing. This new style of fencing was barbed wire and its invention had a profound impact on the United States. A special exhibition of 181 different styles of barb wire is on display now in the Education Center at Homestead National Monument of America through August 31. This free exhibition compliments the collection on permanent display inside and outside the new Homestead Heritage Center. More
