Young adults from southeast Nebraska/northeast Kansas seeking new challenges may find just what they are looking for with Venture Crew 82. The Venture Crew 82 leaders will be hosting an informational open house on Monday, November 23 at 7 p.m. at Homestead National Monument of America’s Education Center and invite all interested young adults to get more information and participate. Venture Crew 82 is for young men and women ages 16 to 20 who are seeking leadership opportunities, high adventure, service, travel, and outdoor activities.
This program brings together the resources of the Homestead National Monument of America, Friends of Homestead National Monument, Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts of America and local area adult advisers to provide an opportunity for expanded knowledge and enjoyment of public lands and cultural areas of the nation. This Venture crew will provide their own leadership and choose which activities they want to pursue, whether that is athletic, educational, recreational outdoor-related or otherwise. The unique partnership between a National Park Service site, Boy Scouts of America, and a NPS Friends group, combines diverse, wide-reaching and exciting resources and opportunities for those who get involved.
At the Open House on Monday, November 23, youth will learn more about the Venturing program, meet the leaders of Venture Crew 82, and have the opportunity to sign up. For more information, contact Park Guide Allison La Duke at Homestead National Monument of America by phone 402-223-3514 or by email e-mail us.
