Soon you will be able to carry a piece of the homesteading story in your pocket! After lots of planning and excitement, the quarter featuring Homestead National Monument of America is almost here. The quarter represents Nebraska in the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. The quarter is currently in productionwith about 10 million being minted a day. The final quarter design represents the things homesteaders needed to survive: food, housing, and water. The quarter will be officially launched on February 10, 2015.We invite you to join us on that day at 10 a.m.for a celebration at Beatrice High School. This big event will include speakers, music, a coin pour, and coin exchange. The coin exchange will begin immediately following the quarter launch event, with a one roll ($10) minimum and 10 roll ($100) maximum. Also on February 10, 2015, come to Homestead National Monument of America's Education Center for an open house and coin exchange from1-4 p.m.Stay tuned for more program details. For those especially interested in numismatics (the study or collection of currency), the United States Mint will host a coin forum the evening before the event. You are welcome to join the forum on February 9, 2015 from 6-7 p.m.at Homestead National Monument of America's Education Center.
