Are you ready for some family time this October? Many events are coming up that will be fun for all ages. The month will start with the Hedge Apple Festival on October 5, an exciting and maybe silly day of Olympic-style games and crafts, all using hedge apples! Next on Sunday, October 12, dig into your family's past for Family History Day. Learn about genealogy from a special guest speaker, and join an Artist-in-Residence to make personal art using your own family photos and mementos. On Saturday, October 25 come enjoy one of the biggest, most fun events of the year:  Howling Homestead! Join park rangers, volunteers, and special guest presenters for a night full of family fun from6-9 p.m.at the Homestead Heritage Center. The event will take you through entertaining and intriguing activities, from learning about raptors to gazing at the stars.

Homestead National Monument of America is a unit of the National Park Service located four miles west of Beatrice, Nebraska and 45 miles south of Lincoln. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free of charge.
