Learn about the Snakes of Nebraska at August 15 Campfire Program

Snakes will be the topic of the Saturday, August 15, 2009, Campfire at Homestead National Monument of America. The snakes program will be given by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission at 7:30 p.m. The musical program will be given by Noel Ditmars of Pickrell. This special program will take place at the Monument’s Education Center.

All Campfire Programs begin at 7:30 p.m. and last approximately one hour. Campfire Programs are held outdoors at the campfire ring behind the Education Center. If there is inclement weather, the program will be held inside. Visitors are encouraged to bring insect repellant for comfort as well as lawn chairs if desired. Bottled drinking water will be provided courtesy of the Beatrice Community Hospital.

Homestead National Monument of America is a unit of the National Park Service located four miles west of Beatrice, Nebraska. Current hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Admission is free of charge. For additional information, please call 402-223-3514 or visit www.nps.gov/home.
