Get fit at your National Park!On Saturday, April 27, 2013, Friends of Homestead and Homestead National Monument of America will host a walking challenge in celebration of National Park Week.The event starts at the Homestead Education Center and will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is a great time to enjoy Homestead National Monument of America.The goal of this event is to offer the general public an opportunity to enjoy this national park and promote physical fitness at all ages."We encourage people when they are thinking of fitness, they think about the trails and other programs offered at the Monument.Outdoor fitness can be fun at the Monument.Not only can you exercise, you can watch the prairie come alive as the different plants emerge," says monument Superintendent Mark Engler.Walkers can use any of the monument's trails, which range in distance from a ½ mile to 2 ½ miles.
