Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site will be joining local groups and organizations all over the nation in the "Let Freedom Ring" event. This commemoration will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech.
At 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 28th, there will be a bell-ringing ceremony at the Cast House. Immediately following the bell-ringing, a video of Dr. King's historic speech will be shown in its entirety in the Visitor Center Auditorium. Visitors will also have an opportunity to learn about the lives of African Americans at Hopewell during the 19th century. The public is invited to join the National Park Service in celebrating this historic occasion.
