On Saturday, December 14, the National Park Service, cordially invites the public to attend an open house at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Sites in Hyde Park, New York. The home of the 32nd President of the United States will be historically decorated and visitors will be able to view the home free of charge from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. FDR impersonator, Preston Gifford, Jr., will read excerpts from Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" in the living room of the home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
The Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site open house will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitors to the former First Lady's home will learn how she celebrated her favorite holiday. Refreshments will be served in the stone cottage. Access to the site is by shuttle bus only from the Henry A. Wallace Visitor Center located at the FDR site.
The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library will host their open house from noon to 4:00 PM. There will be a children's reading festival, as well as photos with Santa. Children can make holiday cards for sailors who serve on the USS Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
