Curriculum Guide

- The People Who Came Before -

The goal of this curriculum guide is to help fourth through sixth grade teachers introduce their students to the Hopewell by providing hands-on lesson plans for use in the classroom and at the park itself.  Information on the Hopewell Culture and archeology is provided in the guide along with information on how to schedule a field trip and other references and resources.  After completing the lessons, students should be able to answer questions regarding life during the Hopewell time period - what did they wear and eat, where did they live.

The guide includes background information on the Hopewell specifically for teachers and an introductory section suitable for students.   The guide also contains numerous activities, many of which have black-line masters suitable for making worksheets or transparencies.

The guide is currently being updated.  Sample pages of the curriculum guide, including the current table of contents, may be viewed by clicking on the links that follow.  Copies of the complete guide may be ordered below.
