Current Projects at Horseshoe Bend

Resource Management: The park is currently revising the Fire Management Plan to provide information on prescribed burns, fuel control and native forest regeneration. This plan will give the park the tools needed to plan and execute the program to ensure the safety and growth of our natural resources. The plan is in its final review phase.

Waysides: Harpers Ferry Center is working with park staff to design new wayside exhibits for the battlefield tour road. A nationally known artist has been contracted to provide seven original works to be featured on the new exhibit panels. The new artwork will highlight the cultures and landscapes associated with the 1814 Battle of Horseshoe Bend. To date, HFC staff have made three site visits to Horseshoe Bend in order to plan for the new waysides. This project is to be completed in 2005.
