2015 School Day

School Day

Friday, 8 May 2015,

Horseshoe Bend National Military Park will host a curriculum based School Day on Friday,8 May 2015. This event is open to fifteen fourth grade classes who register through the Park. If teachers are interested in participating please call Heather Tassin or Russell Brindley at 256-234-7111. Each teacher that registers their class will be provided pre and post site activities about the Creek War and Frontier Life during the early 1800's. Students study these events during Alabama history in fourth grade so the park is hoping to provide a tangible experience related to their studies.

During the School Day event each class will be rotated to multiple stations, these stations include: Cannon and musket firing, wool spinning, cooking demonstrations, and Creek hunting exhibits. We hope that everyone who participates in this event will have a wonderful experience and gain a new appreciation for the diverse and important history our state.

While this event on Friday is specifically for fourth grade classes the park will be having events on Saturday for the general public including children of all ages from 10AM-2PM.

This Program is FREE to the public.
