This grant will produce 18 masks and associated regalia for the Bladder Feast, a traditional Hooper Bay ceremony held to honor the spirits of animals killed over the past year. Preparations for the ceremony and the ceremony itself will be documented with photographs and videotape. The project is urgent as only a handful of elders still remember the songs, carving, and chants associated with the Bladder Feast.

Creating such an organization was one of the specific recommendations in Secretary Lujan's report to Congress on the preservation needs of Indian tribes.
