Tribal Preservation
Program and Grants - About Us

The Tribal Historic Preservation Program works in close cooperation with the Grants Division in the Cultural Resources Department of the National Park Service (NPS).

Designation of new Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (THPO), and oversight of the requirements THPOs agree to in accepting the duties of a THPO, are handled by this office.

The State, Tribal, and Local Plans and Grants Division processes and manages the annually-apportioned grants to the THPOs and the competitive Tribal Heritage Grants for Federally Recognized Tribes.
