Close up of F67 in N50 and N51, E183. The feature was a long linear stain and appears to have been where logs were placed near the edge some time in the 20th century. Documentation for the natural strata excavation includes photographing each profile prior to removing the fill.

Documentation for the natural strata excavation includes photographing each profile prior to removing the fill. In this example, in N38E179, three strata are delimited: B1 (root disturbed filling episode immediately below the A humus zone); B2 (the same filling episode, with little evidence for root disturbance); and C, a darker and distinctively different fill. Each strata is excavated separately, with starting and ending elevations recorded, and surfaces photographed upon completion.
