Today's Accomplishments: Continued to excavate Mound A along the north side, top, and south side.

Zone A, the recent humus zone, has been removed to either side of the trench.

A mass of red silt/clay was found in covered by the mottled fill of one of the deeper mound stages in the south trench. First exposed in 2001, we are taking the surrounding area down to delimit what this feature represents.

Large trees had to be removed at both the north and south sides of the mound in the impact area, and the removal of the stumps is proving challenging..
