Today's Goals: Continue work on the step trench to the north of Mound A, and carefully excavate around the features found yesterday. The trench across the top of Mound A is closed today to focus on the north step trench.
South step trench work continued. South step trench work continued - mainly on features found yesterday and today.
Light colored wall line. A light colored wall line appeared across the floor and at a 45º angle in the east wall in a south step trench unit.
Three large postmolds. Three large postmolds, surrounded by a reddish-orange area was found at the base of another south step trench unit.
Work on the north step trench. Work on the north step trench is well underway with three teams of archeologists and more excavation units being laid.
Work in the units of the north step trench. Emily M. Yates and Chuck Lawson work in the top units of the north step trench. These units are in full sun nearly all day and has little breeze, however Emily enjoyed the opportunity to be on the other side of the camera and excavate for a while.
