SEAC: Note 2

Archeological evidence, in the form of friction primers and a wheel bolt, suggests the guns were placed about 150 meters south of the Monroe House (Scott and Hunt 1998). James Legg (personal communication, October 30, 1995) suggests the guns may have been 50 or 100 yards southeast of the house based on the recovery of friction primers in this area. It is possible one gun was sited at each location or that the Legg location was used late in the battle to fire on the retiring Confederate column.
