 Protecting the Past, originally published by CRC Press in 1991, has been out of print for some time. With their decision to discontinue the book, CRC press returned all rights and privileges to the editors --George S. Smith and John E. Ehrenhard. Due to the many requests we have had for the book we are pleased to make this collection of articles available on the Southeast Archeological Center's Web site. In referencing this material, please use the Center's URL. Due to various levels of editing, articles may vary slightly from what appeared in the CRC Press publication. We would like to again thank the individual authors who contributed to this volume. All royalties from the sale of the CRC Press version of the book went to the Society for American Archaeology for archaeological resource protection and public education efforts.
