Click here for the Advanced Search

Alternatively, viewers can use the National Park Service advanced search engine. Once there, follow the instructions below to search the web version of the book for a specific topic. To search the entire National Park Service site, just use the search engine in the normal manner.

  1. Click here to open up the National Park Service Advanced Search Engine.
  2. Make sure the "Search National Park Service" button is filled in.
  3. Under the heading "for documents that" change the "should contain" pulldown to "must contain".
  4. Under the same heading, change the "in the body" pulldown to "in the URL".
  5. In the blank space underneath the same heading type in benningweb (or you can just cut and paste it from here). These steps will specify The Land and the People book directory to search in.
  6. Once the user has the "for documents that" section completed, they will be able to search for any keyword or category desired underneath the other two headings by entering what is being looked for and changing the pulldown menus as necessary.
  7. To begin the search, just click the "seek" button at the bottom of the Advanced Search page.

While the instructions may look complicated to begin with, once the user uses them a few times it should be easy to find whatever one is looking for in the web version of The Land and the People.
