Welcome
to the Beneath These Waters web
site. This book, which was first published in 1993, provides readers
with a popular account of the lives of the Savannah River Valley's prehistoric
and historic inhabitants. The information here is based on archaeological
excavations, archival research, and participant interviews of the living
residents of this area. It is truly a unique presentation of this area's
history through time, and will provide readers with a greater appreciation
of the history of the area around the Georgia/South Carolina border
in general.

trip along the Savannah River, click on the picture above.
You will immediately be taken to a Table of Contents page where you
can find out more about each chapter. Just point your mouse at the title
of a chapter for a brief chapter description.
This web site was created because the book is no longer
in print. In crafting a web version of this popular history, the Southeast
Archeological Center hopes to spread the information found in this volume
to a wider audience. If you like what you read, please feel free to
let others know about the site. Thank you for your interest in Beneath
These Waters.
