The Baltimore Travel Itinerary was produced under the direction of Carol Shull, Keeper, and Edson Beall, historian, at the National Register of Historic Places from the nomination files of the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places, U.S. Department of the Interior. These materials are kept at 800 N. Capitol Street, NW, in Washington, open from 8:00am to 12:00pm and from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, except federal holidays.

Property descriptions were originally written in 1997 by Alexis Abernathy, Sarah Dillard, Mary McCutchan, Matthew Nowakowski, Brenda Olio, and Rustin Quaide, all from the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO). The descriptions were expanded and updated in 2001/2002 by Michael Briscoe (National Council of Preservation Educators intern) and Shannon Bell (also of NCSHPO). Updated color photographs were taken in 2002 by Shannon Bell, Theresa Campbell-Page, Jeff Joeckel, and Rustin Quaide, all from NCSHPO. The guide was designed by Bill Wright, NCSHPO, with assistance of Mark Oviatt and Kathleen Madigan, NCSHPO. Other materials provided by Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine and Baltimore City's Commission on Historic and Architectural Preservation (CHAP).

Quote from John Dos Passos comes from John Dorsey and James D. Dilts, A Guide to Baltimore Architecture (Centreville, Maryland: Tidewater Publishers, 1981).
