In 1900 only three percent of American households had telephones. Few were able to make telephone calls, so they came in person. The visitor presented a calling card that was delivered to the host to identify themselves. The calling card was kept as a record of the visit and to encourage a return visit. This scrapbook contains calling cards, business cards, and tickets.
