The light station described on the attached sheet has been determined to be excess to the needs of the Federal government.Pursuant to the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000, 16 U.S.C. 470, this property is being made available at no cost to Federal, state and local agencies; non-profit corporations; educational agencies; or community development organizations; for education, park, recreation, cultural, or historic preservation purposes.

If your organization has any interest in acquiring the described property for the purposes so stated, you are requested to advise this office in writing no later than [date: + 60 days]. Interested parties will be sent an application and will have until [2nd date + 90 days] to complete the application. The Department of Interior will review applications and select the eligible entity. The General Services Administration will complete the conveyance.

The property will be available for inspection during the specified dates of the Open House. Applicants are urged to assess the property prior to submitting an application and are advised to bring contractors and/or inspectors to the site. Participants must provide own their transportation. It is suggested that interested parties contact their State Historic Preservation Officer prior to submitting the application.

  • persons representing governmental agencies must provide a signature authority

    Commercial Activities (commercial activities are prohibited unless approved by the Secretary of the Interior)

    Historical Information (property is listed on or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Property must be maintained according to the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. Historic covenants will be incorporated into the deed.)

    Aid to Navigation (the Federal aid to navigation located at the property remains the personal property of the United States. The United States reserves an unrestricted right for ingress and egress to maintain, operate, repair, replace or relocate the aid to navigation and any associated equipment, and an arc of visibility for said aid.)
