Re-Connecting. A thick grassy turf grows right up to the foundation, without any larger plants. Note that the ground has a positive slope away from the foundation walls in order to carry rain water into the yard. Plan your work:Trim back bushes yearly to promote free airflow along the building. Trim trees every ten years. Maintenance tip: Keep grass trimmed short right up to the foundation. Plant bushes and flower beds away from the building. When plantings must remain next to the building, keep them trimmed back at least two feet. Trim tree branches so they are at least ten feet from the building.
